Abstract: Advances in studies of the pigment-protein complexes of brown algae in the last 20 years, including the separation technique and research advances of PSⅠ, PSⅡ and LHC are reviewed. The problems of separation technique, characterization of brown algae, complexes homologies and the properties of PSⅠ fluorescence emission at 77 K are discussed.
