Abstract: A comparative karyological study of the cultured Ewasabi Maxim and its three related wild species (Edeltoideum,Eheterophylla,Eyunnanense) had been performed.The results are as follows:2n=2x=14=10m+4sm for Edeltoideum(Hook.f.et.Thoms)O.E.Schulz.2n=2x=14=6m(2SAT)+8sm for Eheterophylla (W.W.Smith)Hara.2n=4x=28=12m(2SAT)+16sm for Eyunnanense Franch.2n=4x=28=7m+17sm+4st for the cultured Ewasabi Maxim.The results offer significant theoretical foundation for fostering a new breed.
