The essential oil of Pelargonium rosum which is produced in Yunnan was analyzed by Finnigan-4510 GC/MS/DS. Some 57 compounds belonging to 7 alcohols (56.3), 25 esters and ethers (20.51), 20 terpenoids (8.51), 3 carbonyl compounds (10.71) and 2 other constituents (0.66) were identified. The analysis shows that the essential oil of Pelargonium rosum is similar to the French Pelargonium oil.

The essential oil of the "Lang-Du Dang-Gui" (Angelica sp.) from the Lang-Du Mountain (Yunnan Province) has been analysed qualitatively and quantitatively by means of capillary GC/MS/DS on the Finnigan-4510, and forty-two constituents, which made up 96.83 of the total oil, have been identified. Ligustilide (73.98) and cis-P-ocimene (12.18) were the principal components of the essential oil. In addition, four known compounds that are lignoceric acid (1 ), P-sitosteroK 2 ), umbelli-ferone(3), and sucrose (4) have been isolated from the non-volatile part of the same sample.

From the whole plant of Gymnema yunnanense Tsiang, two new Czi steroidal glycosides named gymnemaroside A(I) and B(II) were isolated. On the basis of che-mical and spectral evidence, their structures were elucidated as penupogenin 3-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl- (1 -4 )- 3 -O-methyl- 6 -deoxy-β-D-allopyranosyl- (1-4) -β-D-cymaropyranosyl-( 1-4 )-β-D-cymaropyranoside and gymnemarsgenin 3-O-β-D-gluco -pyranosyl-( 1-4 )-3-O-methyl-6-deoxy-β-D-allopyranosyl-( 1-4)-β-D-cymaropyran -osyl-( 1-4 )-β-D-cymaropyranoside, respectively.

This paper deals with chromosome number and karyotype analysis of three species of the genus camellia and their plantlets in tissue culture. The chromosome count and karyotype are reported here for the first time. The somatic chromosome of them are as follows;C. funghinensis and it's plantlet, 2n = 2x = 30= 22m(2SAT) + 8sm.C. limonia and it's plantlet, 2n = 2x = 30= 24m(2SAT) + 6 sm.C. flavida and it's plantlet, 2n = 2x = 30= 24m(2SAT) + 6sm.The results indicated that the karyotype of the regenerated plants are the same as that their wild species.

Pinus yunnanensis, as an important species of silvicultural and commercial tree, is a kind of special coniferous tree widely distributed in the southwestern part of China. It grows rapidly, and is able to endure poor and dry soil. In this paper, the biomass of natural middle-young stands of Pinus yunnanensis in Yimen county of the central part of Yunnan province at elavations 1600-1700 m have been studied. Authors investigated three stands in the district. Their stand age is 4 -year, 11-year and 23-year respectively.

The biosystematic relationship between Roegneria hondai Kitag. and R. pen-dulina Nevski in the tribe Triticeae Dum. were studied by means of genome analysis. Fl PMC had a mean configuration of 4.54 I +5.011 (ring) +6.491 (rod) +0.191 +0.04 IT, an irregular chromosome pairing in meiosis and completely no seed set. The dif-ference of genome and reproductive isolation between two species were observed. The evidence obtained from this study supported the morphological point of view that R. hondai and R. penduUna were independant good species.

Section Fibrillosa Ching contains about 25 species which is mainly distribu-ted in the Himalayan regions. Some species are doubtless splited up after the upheaval of the Himalayas, they are the endemic species to the Himalayan regions and the taxonomical characteristics between them are very close to each other, so it brings about difficultes to the classification of the section.

Pollen morphology of 27 species in genus Fritillaria from China were exami-ned under the light microscope (LM) and scanning electron microscope (SEM). According to their exine ornamentation, these pollen can be divided into two groups: quasi-rugutat and reticulate. The characters of pollen grains of 27 species (varieties) differ from each other in ornamentation, formation and width of muri, size of lumina, the number of lumina in per unit area, ratio of length of baculum and caput of pilum, etc.

The junior author has been collected an unusual fungus from Pishan (Guma) County in Xinjiang(Sinkiang),on June 21,1988.This species is very closely related to Coprinus sterquilinus Fr.and Coprinus calypterotus Peck, but differs from them in the very large and subrhombiform spores 22-26×13-19μm.However,the size of spores of Coprinus sterquilinus Fr.is only 18—23×10—13μm and C.calyptratus Peck is only 17—21×10—13μm.This is the most unusual species with a whitish pileus, very finely pubescent at least over the center disc, the marginal surface area closely folded-striate before expanding, becoming broadly convex to plane and plicate-striate when maturity, the stipe equal, hollow and rather fragile, densely pubescent at base always white, not sordid, which at least for the present is being recognized as a new species.

In this paper, the present writers are to discuss the taxonomy and distri-bution of the genus Caryodaphnopsis Airy Shaw. The whole genus included about 14 species, among them 7 species in tropical Asia and 7 species in tropical America. The area of Caryodaphnopsis Airy Shaw belongs to the area-type of Tropical Asia and Tropical America (or tropical amphi-pacific) , but this area-type had still 32 genera except it in China, they fall into 27 families. According to the characteristics of the distribution of these genera, we may be supposed that they were' mostly originated at Gondwana during Mesozoic and they are mainly tertiary palaeo-tropical floristic elements.
