Abstract: From the roots of Desmos chinensis Lour (Annonaceae), a folk medicine for treatment of malaria in China, two flavonones were isolated by means of chemical and spectral data. These two compounds have been identifies as 4,7-dihydroxy-5-methoxy-6-mcthly-8-formyl-flavane and 5,7-dihyroxy-6,8-dimethyl- dihydroflavonce (demethoxymatteucinol), respectively.
