Abstract: In this paper, the present writers are to discuss the taxonomy and distri-bution of the genus Caryodaphnopsis Airy Shaw. The whole genus included about 14 species, among them 7 species in tropical Asia and 7 species in tropical America. The area of Caryodaphnopsis Airy Shaw belongs to the area-type of Tropical Asia and Tropical America (or tropical amphi-pacific) , but this area-type had still 32 genera except it in China, they fall into 27 families. According to the characteristics of the distribution of these genera, we may be supposed that they were' mostly originated at Gondwana during Mesozoic and they are mainly tertiary palaeo-tropical floristic elements.
