Abstract: The chemical components of the stearn-distilled leaf and peel essen-tia1 oil from Citrus bergamia Risso., which is first introduced by us from abroad, were analyzed by GC--MS--DS technique, linear temperature programmed retention index, and authentic sample superimposition. Among 220 and 200 components, isolated by capillary gas chromatography from the steam--distilled leaf and peel cssential oil, 48 and 57 components were identified respectively. The identified components make up 99.80% and 98.54% of the leaf and peel essential oil. The leaf cssential oil is apparently distinquished from the peel essential oil by its less monoterpene (α-pinene, β-pinene, and limonene) content and high terpenol (α--terpineol, linalool, nerol, and geraniol) content.

Key words: Citrus bergamia
