The authors have discovered, however, that there are two types of appendages growing on the same perithecium of this fungus. The long appendages are of the Uncinula type, while the short ones are sickle-shaped. This species is quite different from the species of Uncinula in that it possesses more than one type of appendages, a characteristic analogous to that found on the already reported Uncinuliella spp. on Rosaceae. Therefore, this species is transferrcd to Uncinuliella and becomes a new combination: Uncinuliella australiana (McAlp. ) Zheng et Chen comb. nov.
