Abstract: The chromosome numbers and karyotypes of 5 species in Ligularia from China are reported for the first time. The results are as follows:2n=58=32m+14sm+12st for Ltongolensis;2n=58=24m+32sm+2st+3-5B and 2n=58=36m+22sm for Lpleurocaulis;2n=58=28m+30sm for L.yunnanensis;2n=58=30m+24sm+4st+1B for L.phyllocolea;2n=58=24m+34sm for L.cyathiceps.The number 2n=58 is in agreement with earlier reports on other species of Ligularia and its related genera.B-chromo-somes are discovered in L.phyllocolea and L.pleurocaulis, which have never been reported for other species of Ligularia.
