Abstract: The results of these studies may be summarized as follows: Since De Candole separated Genus Corydalis into three subgenera Ca-pnitcs, Capnoides and Leonticoides based upon the forms of the underground organs, there are two different views. Fedde (1936) and Ryberg (1960) did not make any use of subgenera by reason of distinct connections between tube-rous and non-tuberous forms, but Popov (1937) adopted De Candole's views in this respect. He corrected some De Candole's mistakes and conserved Sub-gen. Capnites and Capnoides. Besides the forms of the underground organs he emphasized the characters of cotyledons. Capnites sensu Popoy consisted of the tuherous forms with only l cotyledon in seed, whereas Capnoides provided with taproots, fibrous roots or rhozomes with 2 cotyledons in number. The present authers agree with Popov's classification.
