Abstract: In the present paper, the karyotypes of Allium hookeri Thwaites and its variety A Ilium hookeri Thwaites var. muliense Airy-Shaw were investigated. They had the same basic chromosome number of x=ll. There were diploid, triploid, and tetraploid observed in the spe-cies Allium hookeri. Their karyotypes could be formulated as 2n= 2x= 22= 4m+10sm+6st+2t, 2n= 3x= 33= 3m+15sm+9st+6t and 2n=4x= 44= 4m+28sm+4st+8t respectively, belonging to StebbW 3A type. The radios between longest to shortest chromosome were 1.32, 1.59 and 1.40 respectively. The centromeric terminalization values were 73.93, 74.70 and 73.66 respectively. The variety Allium hookeri var. muliense observed was diploid. The karyotype could be formulated as 2n= 2x= 22= 2m+12sm+6st+2t, also belonging to StebbW 3A type. The radio between longest to shortest chromosome was 1.89. The centromeric terminalization value was 72.9.
