The karyotypes of Allium macranthum Baker, Allium wallichi Kunth and its variety Allium wallichi Kunth var. platyphyllum J. M. Xu were investigated. They had the same basic chromosome numbers of x= 7. There were diploid and tetraploid observed in the species Allium macranthum. Their karyotypes could be formulated as 2n=2x= 14= 10m+4st and 2n = 4x = 28 = 20m+8st respectively, belonging to Stebbins/ 2B type. The ratios between longest to shortest chromosome were 3.03 and 3.00 respectively. The centromeric terminalization values were 60.67 and 59.70 respectively. There were also diploid and tetraploid observed in the species Allium wallichii. Their karyotypes could be formulated as 2n= 2x= 14=4m(2SAT)+10sm and 2n=4x=28= 12m(2SAT)-H6sm respectively, belonging to Stebbins/ 2A type.

Euploidic variation in filial generation of spontaneous triploid Allium tuberosum Rottler ex Spreng. was studied in this paper. Spontaneous triploid A.tuberosum is highly sterile because of the difficulties involved in chromosome pairing and disjunction during meiosis. Its ex-pected value of fertility is only 1/8192, but the practical value of fertility is 1 / 5882. It is higher than its expected one. The plants in filial generation of the triploid with a basic haploid number of 8, have members with chromosome numbers of 16, 24 and 32. The karyotypes of these plants were analysed. Their karyotype formulas are 2n = 2x = 16 = 14m + 2st(SAT), 2n = 3x = 24 = 21m + 3st(SAT), 2n=4x=32=28m + 4st(SAT). They are diploid, triploid and tetraploid respectively, and have become a euploidic series. Three kinds of euploid are in a ratio of 13 diploids: 20 triploids: 12 tetraploids. It approximately coincides with expected ratio of 1: 2: 1. It is proved that this spontaneous triploid A. tuberosum is an autotriploid.

In the present paper, the karyotypes of Allium hookeri Thwaites and its variety A Ilium hookeri Thwaites var. muliense Airy-Shaw were investigated. They had the same basic chromosome number of x=ll. There were diploid, triploid, and tetraploid observed in the spe-cies Allium hookeri. Their karyotypes could be formulated as 2n= 2x= 22= 4m+10sm+6st+2t, 2n= 3x= 33= 3m+15sm+9st+6t and 2n=4x= 44= 4m+28sm+4st+8t respectively, belonging to StebbW 3A type. The radios between longest to shortest chromosome were 1.32, 1.59 and 1.40 respectively. The centromeric terminalization values were 73.93, 74.70 and 73.66 respectively. The variety Allium hookeri var. muliense observed was diploid. The karyotype could be formulated as 2n= 2x= 22= 2m+12sm+6st+2t, also belonging to StebbW 3A type. The radio between longest to shortest chromosome was 1.89. The centromeric terminalization value was 72.9.

The biology population of Nomocharis mairei Levl. which comes from Canshan Moun-tains, Dali, Yunnan, was investigated in this paper. The morphological characters were statistically analyzed in the population. The characters are as follows the plant height, internodal length, leaf number of cycle, length and broad of leaf, flower number of individual, length and broad of inner or outer petal, diameter and number of dot on inner of outer etal. The polymorphism of the characters and their frequencies were describedin the population. As a result, all characters investigated appear obvious polymorphism, which is different one another in the va-riation patterns. Among the characters, the plant height, length and broad of leaf, flower number of individual, length and broad of inner of outer petal are quantitative characters which are heritable and environmental effecting.

The karyotype and differentiation of the four local populations in Lilium duchartrei Franch. from Hengduan Mountain area of northwestern part of Yunnan Province were analysed in this study. No chromosomal number variaton was observed and all karyotype asymmetries be-long to 3B type. Karyotype polytypism among the four populations was displayed as the chromosomal heterozygosity, and the number variation as well as position shift of the secondary constrictions and the satelites. As a result, there is high intraspecific differentiation in Lilium duchartrei and we asume that Hengduan Mountain area is its origin and differentiation center.
