Abstract: The essential oil from the fresh flowers extract of Rosa cymosa Tratt. was prepared by steam distillation. The plants was collected from the Long Dong Bao near Guiyang of Guizhou province. There are 28 components inden-tified by GC/MS in the essential oil on Finnigan-4510 instrument. The major components are eugunol (41.64%), linalool (9.26%),nonadecane (6.73%), hepta-decane (4.81%), geraniol (4.53%), benzyl methanol ( 3.55 % ), 1-heptadeccne (3.91%), cinnamic aldehyde (3.43%) , ethyl benzoate (2.88% ) , trans-linalool oxide (0.98%). The essential oil has a fragrant aroma, and the effect of raising and stabilizing the aroma of the essence used in cosmetics and so on, as well the effect of sterilization and antisepsis in foods and medicine. This scientific research will provide scientific basis for the exploitation and application of the plants resou-rce of Rosa cymosa.
