Abstract: Comparative studies on morphology and stem tissue of S. hainanen- sis (Pei) Swamy et Bailey of variant groving areas in China were carried out. The results show that the species described previously is mixed population. The limit for S. hainanensis (Pei) Swamy et Bailey were revised and the two new varieties of Sarcandra, S. hainanensis (Pei) Swamy et Bailey var. pingbian- nensis C. Z. Qiao et Q. H. Zhang and S. hainanensis (Pei) Swamy et Bailey var. lingshuinensis C. Z. Qiao et Q. H. Zhang also described in the paper.
