Abstract: A new phenolic acylglucoside , 2-methoxy-1 , 4-biphenol-1- O - [6- O- (3-methoxy-4-hydroxybenzoyl ) ]-β-D-glucopyranoside(1) , together with 8 known compounds , 3′, 5′-di- C-β-D-glucopyranosylphloretin (2 ) , rutin (3) , quercetin-3- O-β-D-glucopyranoside (4) , pyrogallic acid (5) , catechol (6 ) , p-hydroxybenzoic acid ( 7) , protocatechuic acid ( 8)and vanillic acid (9) , was isolated from the methanol extract of the fruits of Amomum tsao-ko . Their structures were determinedby detailed spectroscopic analysis, including 1D, 2D NMR and MS techniques . The known compounds 2 , 3 , 5 and 7 - 9 were isolated from the titled plant for the first time .
