Abstract: From herbs of the Chinese folk medical plant Balanophora indica, seven compounds: β - amyrin palmitate (balanophorin A), lupeol palmitate (balanophorin B), (3- amyrin acetate, lupeol acetate, β-amyrone, lupeone and palmitic acid were isolated. Their structures were elucidated by the basis of spectral and chemical evidences, respectively. The compounds of lupane were obtained from B. indica, firstly. Bal-anophorin A and B exhibited strong activity against liver damage induced by CCl4.
