Abstract: The antiviral protein gene was amplified from genomic DNA of Phytolacca americana by polymerase chain reaction. After cloning into BamHI sites of pGEM- T, the fragment was subcloned into pUC18 and then sequenced on Pharmada A. L. F auto-sequencer. The results in-dicated that the cloned fragment contained 885 nucleotides, and shared a sequence homology of 99.3% with that of the reported.
