Abstract: A new deterpenoid named as esquirolin A ( 1 ) together with three known compounds, ent-kauran-1β, 17-diol(2), oleanoic acid and β-sitosterol have been isolated from the petroleam ether extract of Coleus esquirolii (Levl) Dunn, by column chromatography on silica gel. The structure of esquirolin A ( 1) was elucidated as ent-17-acctoxy-kauran-16β-ol by spectroscopic methods.
