This paper studied the effect of the total extract of Hypericum perforatum L. on three strains of Staphylococcus aureus in the course of 24 hour's incubation with and without illumination, during which the Optical Density value (640 nm), Colony Forming Unit, Total Cell Count, Minimum Bactericidal Concentration and superoxcide dismutase (SOD)were tested. The results showed that the extract had antibacterial effect on the three strains of S.aureus, its effect depended on its concentrations but was independent of illumination and it induced the increase of SOD activity in bacterial cells.

(2n=40=28m+10sm+2st), C.hookerianum Rchb.f.(2n=40=30m+8sm+2st), C.eburneum Lindl. (2n=40=36m+4sm)and C.elegans Lindl.(2n=40=28m+8sm+4st). Based on karyotypical data the phylogenetic relationships between the data treated are discussed.

To discover inhibitors of enoylpyruvate transferase with antibacterial activity a batch of 2490 extract or fraction samples from plants and animals belonging to 169 families, 560 genera and 916 species were tested on enoylpyruvate transferase bioassay in 96-well microtiterplates. Finally 309 samples, which belong to 80 families, 169 genera and 218 species, showed inhibitory activity at 96.15ug/ml, in which 14 samples showed IC50 at=<10.00ug/ml, 40 samples showed IC50 at 10.01-30.00ug/ml, 83 samples showed IC50 at 30.01-50.00ug/ml and 172 samples showed IC50 at 50.01-96.15ug/ml. It is indicated that this in-vitro bioassay is convenient, stable, rapid, sensitive and effective in searching for antibacterial activity samples from natural sources.

The Giemsa C-banding analyses of type species of Elymus L., Roegneria C. Koch and Hys-trix Moench in Triticeae were carried out by using an improved C-banding procedure. The Giemsa C-banding patterns among E. sibiricus R.caucasica and H. patula were distinct, indicating the interspecific differentiation of the three type species. Most of the Giemsa C-banding diferences of St,H or Y genome in E. sibiricus, R.caucasica and H.patula between other species were discussed.

Allozyme analysis of Davidia involucrata var. vilmoriniana was carried out with 78 individuals in four populations by means of horizontal starch gel electrophoresis technique. Eleven enzyme systems and 21 loci were investigated. The results show that there is high genetic diversity in Davidia involucrata var. vilmoriniana. At population level, the percentages of loci polymorphic (P)are variable from 28.6%-47.6%.

Flower forms of Pedicularis (Scrophulariaceae) display one of the greatest diversities within a particular genus of the flowering plants. The major pollinators of Pedicularis are the bumblebees (Bom-bus). In North America, floral resources of some species of Pedicularis may be shared by bumblebees, mason bees (Osmia) and humingbirds (Selasporus) as pollinators.

The pollen morphology of 12 species belonging to six sections of the Astragalus subgenus Pogonophace in China is presented in this paper. There are three sculpture types of the pollen exine, namely reticulate, perforate or fossulate, and foveo-reticulate sculpture. Though the 3-colporate is commonly exciting in the subgenus, but two types of aperture can be divided according to the ora being apparent or not.

Vitis-idaea at one time or other , and scored for 44 features , resolved the following; Vaccinium sect. Vitis-idaea, consistently clustered together and are classified as V. sect. Aethopus . The remaining 20 OTU's comprise 10 taxa , each quite distinct , but no obvious sectional pattern was dicerned.
