Two species of the genus Thelephora from Yunnan are reported in this paper, i. e. Thelephora vialis Schw. and T. aurantiotincta Corner. They are good edible species, known as "Gamba-jun" in Yunnan, China. Among them, T. aurantiotincta is new to China. They are common in the middle Yunnan and occur in coniferous woods or in mixed woods during midsummer and autumn. These two species are redescribed in the paper.

The chemical components of the leaf essential oil from Cinnamomum platyphyllum (Diels) Allen were analyzed by GC--MS--DS technique, the liner temperature programmed retention index, and authentic sample superimposition. Fifty-eight of two hundred fifty components, which make up 97.27% of the total oil, isolated by the capillary gas chromatography, were identified. The major components are camphor (28.57%) etc.

From frish fruits of Dracaena cambodiana Pierre et Gagn. four steroidal saponins, dioscin (1 ), gracillin (2 ), 22-methy proto-dioscin (3 ) and 22-methy proto-gracillin (4 ) were isolated and identified. From phyto- systimatic point of veiw, the fact that occurence of glycosides of diosenin (7 ) in Dracaenaceac, will be a support for that Dracaenaceae belong to Order Asparagales of superorder Lilliflorae, and most related to Agavaceae and Asparagaceae, and also relatcd to Funkiaceae, Smilacaceae and Order Diosco- reaccae.

Enzyme-linked immunoassay for the quntitation of zeatinriboside has been studied. Rabbits' antisera produced against bovine serum albumin con- jugates of zeatinriboside have a high affinity and a high specificity for zeatin- riboside. The antisera show a negligible cross reaction to some cytokinins sttch as kinetin cxcept zeatin. This assay method is sensitive and measuring ranges xtend from 0.25 to 50 pmol/assay of zeatinriboside. The reproducibility is also ood. Due to the high specificity of this method, crude extracts may be used for analysis. The method is simple and rapid. And a lot of samples can be analysed in the same time. The quantity of cytokinins levels (calculated as zeatinriboside) in each part of Hyacinthus orientalis L. is 10-60ng/g. F. W..

The alkaloids from Tripterygium hypoglaucum (Levl) Hutch. and their structure are unknown, cxcept wilforine reported by the author in the last paper(1),This continuing inverstigation reports the structural indentifi-cation of wilforgine (2 ), wilfordine (4 ), wilfortrine (3 ) and cuonymine (5 ) fronl this plant by the chemical and spectroscopic methods. The "COSY" 1H--1H chemicalshift correlation provides the 1H scalar coupling relationships for the purpose of the complete assignment of 1H, and the relative configuration of them. In additon, the structure of willorgine and wilfortrine was not eluci- dated by 1H NMR spectra, although both have early been isolated from species Tripterygium wilfordii Hook. f.

The immunological relationships of six taxa of Paris genus were investigated using their root stock g1obulin components as the antigens and cmploying poly-acrylamine gel electrophoresis (PAGE), immunodiffusion, imm- unoclectrophoresis (IEP), IEP combined with absorption technique and enzyme- linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The dendrograms of immunological relationship calctllated by Mean Absorption Similarity Coefficient (Sabs. mean) and Jaccard's coefficient were generated. The results obtained using above two coeffecients were both the same. The result based on ELISA also matched the one by Jaccard's and Sabs. mean well. Serological data supported the assumption that the P. dunniana section is a primitive group in the phylogeny of Paris.

Based on extensive collecting the ectomycorrhizal fungi from the subalpine coniferous forest region, N. W. Yunnan are reported. The ectomy- corrhizal fungi relating to the subalpine conifers and their morphological and anatomical characteristics have been compared. The investigation results indicated that the subalpine conifers were mainly associated with Boletaceae, Cortinar-iaceae, Amanitaccae, Russulaceae and Hymenogastraceae. The ectomycorrhizal fungi associated with Abies georgei Orr. belong mostly to Boletaceae, cspecially Tylopilus indecisus (PK.) Murr. and Boletus erythropus Fr. ex Fr. The Amanitaceac and Russulaccae seem to constantly form ectotrophic mycorrhizae with Picea likiangensis Pritz.

This article is a part of embryological studies of Basella rubra L. dealing with the microsporogenesis and megasporogenesis, and the deyelopment of male and female gametophytes. The results of observation are sumlnarized as follows: The formation of microspore was of simultaneous type and the microspore tetrads were arranged tetrahedrally. In the meiosis of PMCs, the changes in fornlation and disappearance of callose wall may be c1early seen. Pollen grain was 3-celled when shed, and formed six colpi (pancolpate) and reticulate sculpture on the pollen surface. The characters of glandular tapetum were appeared.

Cephalanthera calcarata S. C. Chen et K. Y. Lang, a new saprophytic species of Orchidaceae, is based on a specimen collected by R. C. Ching in 1929 from Yunnan (Yangbi County, 25'38' N 100 '00' E), China. This is apparently a rare species that has not been collccted again since then. Its flowers are erect and white, with a conical spur 2 -- 3 mm long at the base of lip, by which it can be easily distinguished from another saprophytic species, Cephalanthera austinae (A. Gray) Heller, which is endcmic to western North America. These two spcies are the only saprophytic members of the genus, but, as a matter of fact, there is little evidence of closc relationship between them according to their floral characters. In addition, its affinity with other Chinese Cephalantheras is still uncertain, though it shows some similarities to C. falcata (Thunb. ) Bl. and C. yunnanensis Hand.-Mzt. A. A. Heller has once proposed the segregation of C. austinae as a monotypic genus, Eburo- phyton, on the basis of its saprophytic habit and geographic isolation. However, the discovery of the second saprophytic, but distantly related, species in Asia bears a good evidence of independent derivation of the saprophytic membcrs from different autotrophic ancestors. Thus it appears that there is no sufficient reason for treating them as a separate genlls.

The genus Vaccinium has becn profoundly studied by Hermann Sleumer from the 40's of thc 20th century. Thc main purpose of this papcr is to (1 ) deal with the systcmatic position of the genus within family Ericdceae, (2 ) report the species of this genus in China, and (3 ) attempt explaining floristic origin and development. In order to show the systematic positiom, the classificatory viewpoints of the family Ericaceae have been descussed in the present paper. The subfamily Vaccinioideae is recognized as a representative advanccd taxa in pllylogenctic process of the Ericacceae. Basc upon the habit, habitat, and upon thc features of vegetative mass and propagative organ of this subfamily, therefore, it is appropriate that they are recognized as a subfamily but not as a family.
