Abstract:

Seed shape and micromorphology of nine natural populations from five Allium species were observed by SEM. The results show that the seeds are black, moderate in size and ovate or subglobose in shape. The ornamentation of seed coat is scalariform. However, the shape, arrangement and secondary sculpture of convex testa cells have predominant differences both among and within species, providing some evidence for classification of Allium.
