In order to find the aroma cbaracteristics of Citrus madica L.,the chemical compositions of the cssential oil of C.madica have been examined. The cssentia] oil was prepared from fresh leaves by steam disti1lation. The plants was collccted at Ying-giang district of Yunnan province in August, 1983. Tho properties of the essential oil were determined as following:the yield of oil 0.22-0.3%, d21/21 0.8826, n23/D 1.4800, [α]21.5/D + 36.9'.This essential oil was analysed by GC-MS on the Finnigan 4510 instrument. As rcsult (see Table 1 and Fig. 1 ) 22 compounds were identified. The major components are limonene (56.63%), neral (8.1%), geranial (13.52%), P-cy- mene (3.92%), geranyl acetate (2.34%), 6 -methyl- 5 -hepten- 2 -one and myrcene (3.26%) etc. This essential oil having a characteristic lemon-citrus fruitful aroma shows to be suitable for compounding perfumes of food flavour and cosmetic.

The structure of henryin, a new diterpenoid isolated from the dried leaves of Rabdosia henryi (Hemsl.) Hara, has been determined as (I ) on the basis of spectral and chemical evidence. Two known diterpenoids, kame- bakaurin (I ) and kamebacetal A (Ⅲ) were also isolated together with anotber new diterpenoid which will be published elsewhere. Based on the preliminary antitumoactivity test, compounds of (Ⅰ), (Ⅱ) and (Ⅲ) show a definite cytotoxic effect against Ehrlich carsinoma cells in vi-tro.

The relative activity of ATPase, β-GPase and P-NPPase were different in the pollen tube, vegetative nucleus and generative cell at various stages of devcloping gametophyte of Camellia reticulata Lindl. in vitro. The ATPase activiffy was particularly intense in the pollen grain, while the activity of β-GPase and P-NPPase were only localized on the intine and around the germinal aperture at the initial stage of the germination. After the germination, the activity of both enzymes were show intensely in the tube and top growth region in particular.

The present work deals with a study of the karyotypic analy-ses for two species of Cupressaceae-Platycladus orientalis (L.) Franco and Fokienia hodginsii (Dunn) Henry et Thomas. The karyotype of the lat- ter is reported for the first time. The number of somatic chromosomes in root tip cell of the two species was found to be 2n=22. According to the termino-logy defined by Levan et al., the karyotypes are all 2n=22 =4m (SAT) + 18m, both belonging to Stebbins't"l1" type of karyotypic symmetry, and should therefore be generally considered as rathet primitive ones. But the diffe- rences in both length and arm-ratio of chromosomes have shown that the karyo-type of Fokienia hodginsii is less symmetrical than that of Platycladus ori- entalis. The former may be a little more adyanced than the latter. Recently, Chen Ke-youn reported karyotype of Fokienia hodginsii, and the chromosome number was said to be 2n =24. Owing to the results of Chents study being quite different from ours, it seems desirable to carry out a further study with regard to the reason for inconsistency.

The process of the microsporogenesis and the formation of male gametophyte of two species in Paris L. (P.axialis, P. polyphylla var. yun- nanesis) is similar. The cytokinesis is succssive type. The pollen are shed at 2 --celled stage . The anther wall comprises 5 laryers. Tapetum belong the secretory type. The frequency of anormolous pollen grains in P. axialis is higher than in P. polyphylla var. yunnanensis, it probably related with the number of B- chromosomes and abnormal division of meiosis in meiocytes.

Abstract The regulation of hormones are shown in Lentinus edodes by wood shaving spawn culture. The growth and deyelopment of fruit-bodies can be promoted with various hormones. The biological efficiency of different concen- tration of gibberellin, tricaconfyl alcohol, C-751 and NAA to Lentinus edo- des was studied. The yields(fresh weight)of sporophores of Lentinus edodes had increased 41.4% and 39.7% than control with 1 ppm triaconfyl alcohol and 5ppm gibberellin respectively. On the other hand, increase of the yields with 6ppm IBA, 100ppm C-751 and 15ppm NAA sbared 24.9%, 17.8% and 5.1%. How-ever, It is no influence on the content of the major nutritions (carbohydrate, protein, fat) of Lentinus edodes.

Different parts segments of scape in Pulsatilla chinensis were cultured. On MS medium supplcmented with 6-BA 1 ppm + 2, 4-D 0.1 ppm, the highest induction frequency of callus is 90.4% and from which the buds differentiation frequcncy is 23.8%, the response of different parts of scape is si- milar. Histocytological observations on explants indicated that the callus was induced from cells of cortex, phloem and peripheral zone of vascular bundle. After inocubation of explants for one month, adventitious huds were formed from either the cells of surface layer of callus or leaf-likc cylindrica1 structure derived from callus.

Oxygen-eyolving PSII particles were prepared from soybean chloroplasts wiht detergent Triton X-100. The oxygen evolution activities rea-ched 208 umol O2 mg-lchl. hr-1. PSI-dependent O2 uptake and fluorescence emission peak F735 which contributed to PSI were decreased obviously. Light- induced P700 signal was hardly detected and we can't isolate any chlorophyll- protein complex band belonging to PSI using SDS-PAGE. The DCIP photore- duction activity was high. The Chl a/b ratio of the particles was about 1.9. The results cited above show that the soybean particles were enriched in PSlI and oxygen-evolving system and its PSI content is neglectable. Some photosynthetic characteristics of similar particles from spinaeh and castorbean chloroplasts were also showed.

Hunan province is situatcd at the south of the Changjiang(the Yangtze) riyer, at latitude 24°39′-30°08′north, longitude 108°47′-114°15′cast. Geographically, it lies on the transitional zone from the Nanling mountain range to Southeast hills, and to the Dongting-Jianghan plain, and from the Yunnan- Quichou plateau to the Southeast hills. Owing to the transitional features of zonal and geographic location in Hunan, a seris of changes in the features of landform, and soil occur, and that lead to the diyersified differentiation in ve- getational features between the southern part and the northern part, as well as between the eastern part and the western part in Hunan.

Paris is a well delimited genus of Trilliaceae and amounts to 17 -18 species which are distributed in Europe and Asia, chiefly in China. The following characters are those which have been found to be the most useful in distinguishing the taxa of Paris: 1. The basic number of flowers is (3-) 4-10, the number of sepals or petals (outer or inner whorl of perianth- segments) is the same as that of the carpels; 2.the number of stamens is gene- rally 2- 6 times as many as sepals (or carpcls, stigmas); 3. oviry uni- locular with (3-) 4-10 parietal placenttts or (3-) 4-10-locular with axial placentas; fruit a dehiscent capstule or an indehiscent bcrry;4. seeds enclosed by a juicy aril, with a imperfect aril from the funicle or without it; 5. rhi- zome short and thick or elongate slender creeping.
