Four ergosterols, among which three are peroxides were isolated from the methanol ex-tract of the fungus Cryptoporus volvatus. Assignments of their 1H and 13C NMR resonance were achieved by the aid of 2D NMR experiments as well as comparison with reported data. And a possible biogenetic pathway for these compounds was proposed.

In this paper some of the decadal developments (1980-1992) on the Cucurbitaceous triterpenoids from different genera (Actinostemma, Bolbostemma, Cayaponia, Cucurbita, FevUlea, Gynostemma, Hemsleya, Luffa, Momordica, Neoalsomitra, Siraitia, Thiadiantha, Wilbradid) is presented. It is noticeable to discover oleane-type macrocyclic saponins, cucurbitane-type sweet glycosides, dammarane-type saponins, nor-curcurbitacin-type glucosides and baccharane-type, saponins. At the end of the paper, 83 references were listed.

Gastrodia elata Bl. is a plant belonging to orchid family which is parasitic on fungus Armillaria mellea. The fungal hyphae infect the ancestor or nutritive conns of the plant, but are arrested and digested in the cortical cells. The released nutrients are mainly transported into the terminal conns for its growth.

With the isolated and purified cpDNA, a library of cloned genomic fragments can be generated and the isolation and the nucleotide sequence of a given gene can further be conducted. However, the most generally applicable procedures for preparing purified cpDNA are very diffi-cult in Vitis species through the experience of our research work. In this paper we have developed a procedure which has been proved to be succesful in isolating and purifying the cpDNA of Vitis species, bearing comparing some species of other family.

6 genera, about 37 species and varieties within Mimosaceae from China were mainly examined with electron microscope. A comparison was made among these genera, putting an em-phasis on the size and the aperture and the ornamentation of the exine, the results are as follows:Their pollen grains unite in 16-celled(except Aberama utile, which is 8-celled). In Acacia, the size of pollen is about 25-30 um, which is the smallest in all genera. And the others are over 50 urn. The apertures and the ornamentations of the exines in Albizia are smooth or subsmooth. It is quite different from Cylindrokelupha, Zygia and Calliandra, which are tuberculate. The genus Aberama is verrucate or subwart. Besides these, the taxomomic significance among them had been discussed.

Among them, six species are new to China.they are Bryoria himalayana, B.levis, B.nepalensis B.nitidula, B.perspinosa, B.poeltii. And their distributions in Yunnan are also discussed. Besides, the morphological characteristics, the data of MCT and TLC from every specimen cited are also used in identifying species in this study. The specimens cited are deposited in the Cryptogamic Herbarium, Kunming Institute of Botany, Academia Sinica (HKAS) and the Mycological Herbanum, Institue of Microbiology, Academia Sinica (HMAS-L).

A species Protubera nipponica Kobay. of family Protophallaceae is reported and illus-trated from China for the first time. It has been found in Japan and Southern Yunnan of China, and it may be an endemic species of the Estern Asia according to the present data. This paper al-so discusses the taxonomic limits of genus Protubera M511er and places Protophallus Murrill, Protuberella Imai et Kawamura and Kobayasia Imai et Kawamura into the genus Protubera as its synonyms. Protubera may be inferred the genus of the tropical and subtropical distribution origi-nally from the modern geographic distributional patterns of the most species.

The upper one was considered to be Miocene, Tertiary; the lower one was late Mesozoic. Among the upper one is the bed which contained the wood and other leaves fossils. Three species of wood fossils among them had been identified. They are Pseudotsugaxylon pingzhangensis sp. nov., Piceaxylon manchuricum Sze.

The dipterocarp forest of Xishuangbanna, with tropical Asian floristic element as its mainstay, undoubtedly belongs to tropical Asia flora in nature and acts as a part of northern margin of the latter. The forest, especially the part of tree layers, has the same family composition as dipterocarp forests of tropical Asia and most of its genera are shared by the latter and so the forest can be floristically classified as a type of the latter. As occuring at the northern margin of tropical zone of SE Asia, the flora of the forest is characterized by the merging of tropical Asian floristic element into subtropical floristic element of S China and is however transitional towards the forest flora of S China.

Taiwan is a part of the mainland of China. The Taiwan strait was formed as a result of faulting activity. The floras have closing relationship in both sides of the Taiwan strait with the mutual migration and distribution. Fujian-Taiwan land bridge is a part of the most shallow in the Taiwan strait. It was revealed on the sea surface for four times that is due to the regression in Pleistocene glacial epoch, therefore Fujian-Taiwan land bridge turned into passageway of the flo-ras migration on both sides of the Taiwan strait in Pleistocene Epoch.
