Cinnamomum tenuipilum Kosterm. is a new perfume plant in Yunnan. Based on its major compounds of leaf oils from different strains, nine chemical types could be divided. Among them, the content of faresol type is 54-71 percent, of geraniol type is 86-98 percent, of linalool type is 84-98 percent, of methyl eugenol type is 69-89 percent.

The test on differentiation of callus from the sterile seedling of Panax notoginseng (Burk) F. H. Chen was studied. The results demonstrated that the differentiation of P. notoginseng callus was obviously influenced by the different kinds of plant hormones. The MS medium containing 0.5-1.0 mg / L IBA or IAA could promote the differentiation of root, and the MS medium containing 0.5-1.0 mg / L BA could promote the differentiation of shoot. But their rates of differentiation were not very high.

Protoplasts isolated from monokaryon mycelia of wild Lentinus edodes in Yunnan and cultivar of Lentinus edodes were fused by applying electric field of sine wave 500kHz, 400pv / cm and square pulse 50us, 500Qpy / cm. Fused protoplasts were cultured into colonies for 10-15 days. The colonies from fusants were selected by discovering clamp connection of hyph^e under the light microscope.

In a diploid population of Lilium davidii D. in north-western Yunnan, triploid of the species with 36 (2n) chromosomes was found for the first time. It was essentially coincident with the diploid ( 2n=24) in morphological characters as well as in karyotypical and isoesterasal features, and might be sure to be an autotriploid of the species.

The present paper deals with the karyotype analyses of Pinus kwangtungensis Chun ex Tsian and Pinus densata Mast. endemic to China. Both of the karyotypic formulas of the two species found to be K (2n) =24= 24m, which are reported for the first time. The karyotypes of the genus Pinus ( 93 species and varieties ) are all composed of metacentric or/ and submetacentric chromosomes and belonging to 1A type. Based on the comparative analysis of . karyotypic data, the author has found that Subgen. Pinus is more advanced than Subgen. Strobus, and that the genus Pinus is the most primary one in Pinaceae and quite dis-tant from the other genera, although it somewhat related to Cathaya and Picea. It is, there-fore, approprite to regard Pinus as a monotypic Subfamily Pinoideae as suggested by Pilger.

Shorea chinensis forest distributing in Xishuangbanna, S Yunnan, is a forest type of the seasonal rain forest from northern edge of tropical zone of SE Asia. In comparison with various representative tropical rain forest communities, it is indicated that the forest has the same community profile as lowland tropical rain forests, the similar life form spectrum, leaf scale spectrum and leaf type and texture composition to equatorial rain forests, as well as al-most the same species diversity, frequency of the tree D. B. H. class and relationship between individuals / species as typical tropical rain forests.

The original time and geological distribution of Quercus are disscussed based on fos-sil records. The fossil record of Quercus was thought to extend far back into the Cretaceous. Most Cretaceous fossils assigned to Quercus are however poorly preserved and none have been proven to be Quercus. The first believable record of Quercus is from the mid-dle Eocene Clarno Formation of Oregon, United States. This fossil showed that Quercus was already diverse in the Eocene.

The taxonomic position of Sect. Chrysantha H. T. Chang was discussed here. C. chrysantha ( Hu) Tuyama and C. nitidissima Chi were further reduced to C. petelotii (Merr.) Sealy. Sect. Chrysantha H. T. Chang was the first time transfered to Sect. Archecamellia Sealy. . Some species of Sect. Chrysantha were revised and various incorrect determination was discussed with distribution record. 16 species and 3 varieties were determined in Sect. Archecamellia.
